Naim Lavender Locking 5 Pin DIN to 5 Pin DIN Cable – Mogami W2549 & Switchcraft

A Naim-compatible interconnect, built our way

If you need the connection provided by Naim’s Lavender DIN interconnect, this is our take on it.

The important bit is the wiring. Two cables can both have 5 pin DIN connectors and still be wired completely differently inside, so this one is specifically configured for the equivalent Naim DIN-to-DIN connection.

Rather than trying to copy the original cable construction, we’ve built ours around components we know and trust: Switchcraft 05CL5MX locking DIN connectors and Mogami W2549 cable.

Why Mogami W2549?

W2549 is flexible, properly screened against external interference and has low capacitance — all useful characteristics for a line-level analogue interconnect.

The conductors are OFC too, although we’re not going to tell you that oxygen-free copper suddenly transforms how your system sounds. What matters is that W2549 is a properly engineered, consistent professional cable with the electrical characteristics we want for the job.

No magic copper. Just really good cable.

Why Switchcraft locking DIN connectors?

The Switchcraft 05CL5MX is a metal-bodied 5 pin 180° DIN connector with a positive bayonet locking mechanism. It gives us a secure locking connection rather than substituting a basic push-fit DIN plug.

Internally, it uses tin-plated copper-alloy contacts with solder-cup terminations and proper cable strain relief.

Will this work with my Naim?

This cable is for the standard 5 pin DIN analogue connection used between compatible Naim sources and amplifiers or preamplifiers — the same type of connection used by Naim’s Lavender interconnect.

Compatible setups include NDX 2, ND5 XS 2 and CD players such as the CD5 XS or CDX2 when connecting their DIN analogue output to a compatible Naim amplifier or preamp.

This is a signal interconnect, not a SNAIC or power-supply cable.

Will it work with my Naim equipment?

If you’re connecting a Naim source to an amplifier or preamp using the standard 5 pin analogue DIN connection, there’s a good chance this is the cable you need. Send us the two model numbers if you’re unsure and we’ll check the connection for you.

Do the DIN connectors lock?

Yes. The Switchcraft connectors use a bayonet locking mechanism and can be secured to compatible locking DIN sockets.
